What is Family Mediation?

Mediation helps you to sort out practical arrangements as a result of a separation or divorce. The mediator works as an impartial third person helping you to agree a financial settlement or sort out arrangements for your children.

Mediation is different to counselling in that the focus is not about getting back together or discussing the emotional issues around the breakdown of the relationship.

Full information about mediation will be given at the Mediation Information & Assessment Meeting (MIAM) which will usually take about 45 minutes.
